Learn from a crazy wisdom guru?

The truth is often called crazy wisdom
The math is simple, suffering is a closed mind; an open mind does not suffer. The complication is, closed minds believe their minds are open.

We easily judge anything we disagree with as crazy. Any truth, until it is integrated into our consciousness, will be disagreed with, judged, and dismissed as nuts. Hence, the crazy wisdom epithet to teachers of truths antagonistic to our normal mindset.

There is a term in psychology known as cognitive dissonance; a discomfort we feel when we cannot correlate in our mind two thoughts that contradict each other. A truth, All are lessons, disagrees with, I know what I know. Therapists are careful not to create cognitive dissonance in clients, because they may not continue. Crazy wisdom gurus courageously share truths.

I became a seeker of truth, almost 40 years ago. I healed myself from a deep depression by opening my mind to realize truths I had been denying. I have heard many similar stories of how a crisis of identity, or a crash of programmed conditioning, miraculously opened the mind of other truth seekers. Pain is how we learn something is wrong; otherwise, we never question our thinking and we don’t change.

Any truth is confusing, discomforting, and disturbing. Truths can also be shocking, rude, and disorienting to our ego ground of being. There is fear of any truth, because your mind will tell you that if you open your mind, you will no longer know who you are. There is some truth to this, but not much. You will always know your past and what you always believed, but now there will be a dis-identification with it all. Your suffering will lose its hold on you, as you lessen your attachment to your conditioned mind.

All are lessons is one insight that can change your life. This disagrees, however, with a myriad of beliefs about what we know, such as how we judge, condemn, and blame others or some situation for how we feel. When this insight is fully integrated, we are able to take responsibility for our life and how we feel. All are lessons is on the way to freedom, peace of mind, and love.
