Awaken from duality
I observe a difference between the natural world and man. Free of man, the natural world is perfectly balanced; all life forms complement each other.
Primitive man lived tribally in harmony with the natural world. Modern man is unbalanced and suffers, mostly because of his capacity to think conceptually.
Duality is a conception about two opposites; prevalent, because man has been programmed and conditioned to think and perceive in this way. There are no opposites in the natural world.
Duality was invented by leaders to control and dominate. It serves no other purpose. This play of opposites, ingrained in man’s mind for perhaps thousands of years, is responsible for all wars and all suffering, yet, it is believed to be normal and how we are supposed to think.
Duality can be transcended; we can awaken from this mindset by observing it and how it functions. This is what this writing is about.
Duality is how we learned to judge opposites we learned as children, such as good and bad, right and wrong, nice and not nice, beauty and ugly, to name a few. We were taught to compare ideals of perfection; perfectly good behavior is judged along a line to absolutely bad behavior. The same happens with each set of opposites. We usually fail to observe, however, that each set of two opposites and the line between them is one concept.
We were taught and learned as children to identify to one side of each set of opposites by the society of parents, teachers, friends, religious and political leaders, etcetera. This education was fostered by fear, by manipulation of punishment and reward, by love, by guilt, or by mental or physical abuse. Our identifications lead to conflicts with others who don’t agree with us, because we were also taught to conform and believe we belong to the right, or true, or best group, religion, and politic. Once we believe all this, our minds are closed; we think we know who we are and how we need to think to survive. Consequently, we suffer.
Love is our natural state. The energy of the universe is love, grateful acceptance, and surrender to what is. All living beings live in love, except man. Man has a dualistic mind that inhibits love. Love is when duality is not.
